Some ideas for you...
By Krissy

Clip to ScrapBook
Here are a few ideas...

*Use green contruction paper with white letters to look like street signs to label the different areas of your room. One near the door could say "YOURLASTNAME Avenue"

*A Library area just like
the real thing with book shelves a cozy chair and posters about books. Put up road signs like "STOP and read a book" or "YIELD to a good book"

*Put the names of all your students on little people and place them on a large map of the school on a bulletin board, when they leave the room, they must place their person on the destination.

*A Post office could be created with one of those

shoe organizers. You could put student names on the "cubbies" and place a big sign at the top that says POST OFFICE. Decorate the area with laminated posters of different types of stamps and examples of how to write letters. Maybe you could even incorporate a letter writing center where students write to pen pals, each other, or famous people.

*Stoplight: Use this to monitor behavior in the class by putting each name on a clothespin and moving them around from green to yellow to red.

*Put up a bulletin board for work to be proud of and call it the "BILLBOARD AWARD" or "BEST EFFORT BILLBOARD"

*Just like a policeman, give "tickets" for behavior issues. Write the tickets out to specify consequences/loss of priveleges.

*Hang information about community careers around the room to inspire students for the future.

*Give out reward "dollars" and open a "STORE" once in a while where students can shop with their money. I use 1,2,5,10's in my class and it is really helping my students learn to figure up change.
