I'm with you, Joy. I hate to see cursive writing lost altogether. When third grade teachers go through so much trouble to teach it, then kids should continue to use it. I know that my kids are always relieved to hear when they won't have to use it. I always hear audible sighs of relief when I announce that the assignment is in manuscript. I don't know how they lose their motivation when the motivation before was so strong.
