They receive 100 homework points in each of the subjects I teach them (math, science). At our open house on the first day of school, I explained how this would work to the parents as well as putting it in writing in our class information packet. The parents were required to sign stating that they had read and understood class procedures. My students' parents have been very supportive,due in large part to the fact that my homework load is very reasonable and manageable. I also present several scenarios (averaging sets of "grades" with differing homework points) to my students to show them that it's definitely in their best interest to complete assignments.
