peace corner
By Rebecca

Clip to ScrapBook
We have a peace corner in our classroom. This is a place where students can ask to take a classmate that they are having a conflict with. They know that they talk things out calmly and they use the "I Care" poster. They
listen to each other and try to work things out. This has always been a success in my room. We talk about the corner--establish "rules" and they practice what to do. They also do this in guidance class. I make sure they are doing what they are suppose to in the corner by just casually observing(to make sure they are using it properly not to just chat or get ugly with each other).
If the problem is too big for them to work through, then we call for a peer mediator (fifth grade students who have had extensive training). Luckily I have never had to call for one. Hope this helps.
