drastic measures
By Lisa B.

Clip to ScrapBook
Maybe you have never taught a class like this. I have. Sometimes you have to go through drastic measures as the original poster did to get things back on track again. Okay, so the whole class wasn't misbehaving. Would
you have preferred that those who didn't misbehave or cop the attitudes ruin it for the other 21 for the rest of the year? Don't you think that it's better to "lose" two weeks rather than the remainder of the year? Believe me, I had lost valuable instructional almost all of last year as little hellions, such as the original poster described, ran the classroom. NOTHING worked. Rewards.
Loss of privileges. Parent referral. Principal referral. Counselor referral. DSS referral. NOTHING. Kids taking up our valuable classtime mouthing off at me, leaving the classroom in a huff and slamming the door as loudly and forcefully as they could... I am glad that I don't have to work with this situation this year, but I think that the original poster has a good idea. If I ever get a class like that again, I might just be tempted to do it!
