"old" teacher starting over REPLY
By Karla

Clip to ScrapBook
Hi Rosemary. I am also an "old" teacher who changed careers. I was in a totally different career until I turned 40 and I was ready for a change. I went to night school and got a masters degree to teach. I had never taught before but since I raised kids, I had a confidence about handling children that sure came in handy. I would say your background in HS is probably enough for you to jump in and do this. Observations of good teachers in your local schools is definitely a good idea too. I teach 9 yr olds (third grade), and I love that age. They are easy to manage and they love to learn. This is my second year teaching, and I am really enjoying what I do. Feel free to email me.
