too much?
By christine

Clip to ScrapBook
I know you want research, but I'd like to tell you what I do in my PE classes: at the beginning of the year, my 1st graders run for one minute. We increase time and distance gradually,we practice a lot ( 3 times a week at
least) and before Christmas all of them can run 10 minutes non stop, approx 3/4 of a mile. By March some of them can run a mile at a pretty fast pace. What I'm saying is , one mile is not too much, depending on how much practice they have. And my kids are city kids- they sit in front of the TV set most of the time. So I think it would be a good idea to ask your PE teacher how he plans his
lessons...Once agian, it's only my opinion!
( BTW, my own son and daughter ( 6 and 7) can run, bike or hike for more than 4-5 hours on a regular basis. And they love it!)
