too many subjects too little time

Clip to ScrapBook
If you need to, you could alternate Science and Social Studies and still get in your required number of minutes a week. That would be one less per day. I give Spelling as a seatwork assignment very first thing in the morning since it requires little actual instruction time.
If you are taking notes in Science on vertebrates, then tie it in to English by asking them to write a paragraph about certain groups or highlight the adjectives in the notes you have taken. It takes a little more planning, but it is easy to tie them together and eliminate so much.
