don't worry
By Monica

Clip to ScrapBook
Now you know how interviews go, so you won't be so nervous next time. I doubt they were actually laughing at you. You were probably just self-conscious, which is natural considering it was your first interview, and reading
too much into their expressions and body language.

The most successful interviews are conversations. Don't think of yourself as a performing seal, doing tricks on demand when the interviewers ask you to do them. You're an education professional, having a conversation with other education professionals who were once beginners like yourself. Don't focus on just giving the "right"

answer and steeling yourself for the next question. Be human, be yourself, ask questions, try to make some kind of connection with the interviewers. The more interviews you do, the easier it will get, and I'll bet you'll get more and more relaxed as you get more comfortable with the process.

Don't be discouraged! Nobody hits the ball out of the park the first time! I've had some disastrous interviews in my day, for all different kinds of jobs, but none of them has resulted in the end of the world.
