Reassurance By Julie K.

I was asking those same questions my first year teaching. A veteran teacher (whom I respected greatly) gave me THE answer. She explained that at the beginning of the year the kids test you. Then they get comfortable and enjoy their time with you. Then toward the end of the year, they start to pull away. It is how they cope with the soon to be separation. They have grown and become attached to you. Without them really understanding it, they start to pull away and try to convince themselves that they can't wait to be away from you. At first, I didn't believe it. Now that I am finishing my 5th year, I see it every year!! (It also kind of happens with us the teachers! Really??) Hope this comforts you! Let me know your reaction!
