Hi Andrea,

What this other teacher did to YOUR kids and you is just horrible. If you are comfortable with your status in that school for future sub. calls I'd think you'd have every right to take that incident to the bldg.
principal; certainly the regular teacher.

While I think it is good to manage the Kdg. class for noise, neatness, etc. I have come to believe that some noise, mess, etc. (particularly during an Art/activitiy time) means they are working, learning and having fun.

The no walls concept - no good, not if noise is an issue. These kids did not deserve to be yelled out and I'll bet this

put them in shutdown mode for some time.

If this teacher had issues with your class he/she should have taken them up with you.

I have sub'd where the teacher has been in the bldg. doing lesson plans, etc. and had one instance where the teacher did speak to the kids. I felt I had perhaps failed a bit in my work but we talked about it later and she gave me good marks, just that she knew some would test a sub. But yelling/ranting for 5 plus minutes - I'd be just devastated on the lack of respect for me and the kids, particularly coming from someone other than a regular teacher that has contact with the kids.

Best, Ken in WI
