Clip to ScrapBook
I use playing cards for this. I take out all the 10, j, q & k cards. Ace is one. I pair the students up and they each turn over 3 cards for thier problem. The first two cards are for the 1st number and the third card is
for the second number. Both students work the problem out and the person with the highest total gets 2 points if the answer is correct and the other person gets one point if it's correct. They use calculators to check their answers. They have fun and quickly realize which numbers are good to get. Oh! They must use the numbers in the order they are turned over. EX: 2hearts, 5spades,
6diamonds would be 25X6. This keeps the "smarter" kids from putting a nine first instead of a one. They love this and it is true that they don't mind doing this for a long time!
