We have a couple of male teachers and I think they are WONDERFUL for the kids- like the previous poster this a male teacher may be the only adult male in a child's life.

I think you should just follow your heart when it comes to what level to teach-- little kids are wonderful but having older ones is great too- older kids you can really talk to (you don't have to simplify so much) and they understand what you are saying they also have a great sense of humor.

See if you can volunteer at the high school level and at the elementary school level to get a feel with what ages of kids you really like to work with that might help make your decision easier.
