Gifts
By Donna

Clip to ScrapBook
I have taught for 10 years, now. This year was my first with a homeroom, as I've always done teacher relief. I can't tell you how special it was to receive gifts from my students! Candles, bath stuff, ornaments, candy....
They made me feel very special, whether their gift was worth $2 or $20, and I was thrilled with them all. Not all children gave gifts, but they knew it was not expected. They all received gifts from me (from the Dollar Store!) and I tried to make them all feel just as special.

I remember one year receiving a package of red pens from a young relative. He remembered a weekend when

I brought marking along and my red pen ran out. He was thinking!

I would suggest you accept the generosity of your children and concentrate of the joy and excitement they experience through giving, rather than the practicality of the gift. All too soon these children are going to be concentrating on getting rather than giving.

Good luck in what you decide to do!
