AR
By Debbie

Clip to ScrapBook
Hi all,
So sorry if I gave the impression that I was assuming how teachers are/might use AR. I'm only sharing my observations. The teachers on our campus may choose the way they'll incorporate AR into their classrooms, or not at all.
If our goal is to promote a love of reading, I'd suggest the professional book, 'The Art of Teaching Reading' by Lucy McCormack Calkins. Grades, points, parties, etc. are all extrinsic motivators (see Alfie Kohn 'Punished by Rewards' for more).
Is there a need to supplement Reader's Workshop? Do kids need to take tests on books? There are lots of alternatives to evaluating reading for next learning steps and grades. Best of luck! ;-D
