supply lists By Dedi

Are you referring to the list of supplies you will ask your students to bring to school, or the requisition you will submit to the administration for general supply orders? If the latter, we generally complete ours together| as a grade level team. You might also talk to your co-workers about the list that will go home with the children for supplies. When I first got my job, each of the other 3rd grade teachers gave me a copy of her welcome/supply letter, which was a great help in organizing my own. Even as seasoned teachers, they all say they like to do these things together, because others often suggest | | items/solutions they may not have otherwise thought of (and of course we all add our individual kinds of extra items to the bottom). So, I guess my advice is to ask around at school. This will also give you a better sense of some ideas/ things to note that are dictated by school culture. For example, at my school, it is considered taboo to ask children to bring in their own crayons, but each child is asked to bring in 8 tennis balls to put on the legs of their chair/desk. We also ask them to bring in $1 for a school-issued homework assignment book. Many details like this vary from school to school, so I would suggest you check around.
