Don't be too hard on yourself
By Cathy-Dee

Clip to ScrapBook
Trust me these things happen even to us more seasoned teachers. If only we could foresee the future and how things might be interpreted. But we are only human and we do make mistakes. I think it would have been more serious
if the girls had started off with "negative" names right from the beginning. It sounds like it was a "game" that just got carried away. And sometimes we just do not catch those little things that afterwards seem so obvious.

And thankfully we can learn from these mistakes. If your administrator is a good one, he's not going to hold this against you or your other mistakes either.

He was once a first year teacher too. And I'm sure he still makes the odd mistake from time to time. If we can learn from our mistakes and no one is "seriously" injured emotionally or otherwise from them, then we should use them to help us make positive changes with how we deal with things.

It sounds like you are a very conscientious teacher and I'm sure it shows in your classroom and in your relationship with your peers. Don't let this little mistake grind you down too much :}
