Isn't it funny?
By Aggie

Clip to ScrapBook
Wasn't Direct Instruction thrown out years ago because kids needed to be actively involved in their learning rather than passively listening? Didn't we all attend workshops not so long ago vouching for the importance of teaching to different learning styles and providing integrated, hands-on, student-driven learning? Now because someone 'up there' (someone out to make a buck or two, no doubt) has proclaimed D.I. the way forward, we're all taking two steps back. Why is it that education as an industry swings like a pendulum from one extreme to the other like this? Why do they not ask teachers what works and allow us to incorporate the best from all the ideas out there?
