counting chickens
By Kim

Clip to ScrapBook
I've been in this exact position for two years straight. Trust me when I say, don't count your chickens before they hatch. I've had a principal to promise me a position and give it to someone else who wasn't even certified
for this state! So, I won't consider myself hired anymore until I have it in writing. I, too, have had to go to other districts. My advice would be to put as much effort in other districts as you would the one you want. The reason being because your district may not get many if any positions and the neighboring district could have several. If you come off to the neighboring district
as someone who doesn't totally care, you won't get a position there either. That is exactly what I did my first year out. I was so sure of getting hired in my district that I didn't really try in the neighboring ones and it cost me dearly. I don't mean to sound "disturbed" but putting it simpler....take what you can get!
