take it one day at a time
By Cathy-Dee

Clip to ScrapBook
This time of year can be stressful for all of us, including those who have taught for a number of years. You have added stress, so take it one day at a time. Don't put too high of expectations on yourself. I think by going
back you will be making a wonderful statement about who you are, and you can do it!

Plan for 2 or 3 times a week to have down-time after school, head home right away, don't worry about what needs to be done (there's always something that needs to be done), take a hot bath, visit friends, read a book. Don't worry about what other teachers are doing, don't sign up for every year end

event, concentrate on your classroom and on you Stress related illness and burning out is unfortunately common in teaching. We are in a career that does not have a time limit to the amount of work we can do, so we have to put those time limits in place instead. Some teachers make teaching their life, and that's fine if that is what they want. But for many of us we have lives outside of teaching. Never feel guilty about spending time just on you and your family. The first couple of years always seem to be the hardest, I hope that you will find a different position that you will find wonderful to be in
