willow tree
By Dru

Clip to ScrapBook
i just finished turning my classroom into a tropical rainforest! i use two different methods for trees: one is for against the wall- i use brown bulletin board paper; draw long, swoopy lines to represent bark; staple ( we
have that new kind of wall that you can staple into) the trunk on the sides so it bows out in the middle.i use paper leaves attached to branches of crumpled bb paper using paperclips bent in "L's" wo hook the branches to the frame around the ceiling tiles. you could just make yours hang down more for the weeping branches, and use smaller leaves. i also make a free-standing tree in the library
area using a carpet tube-free for the asking at carpet stores. you can paint the tube- or have the class do it, messy but effective. then stand it up in a deep narrow bucket or box and fill around with gravel or for more permenance use plaster. i stuff the crumpled bb paper into the opening at the top and bring "branches" out in all directions with the leaves attached. i hope this explanation is helpful
