Reader's Notebooks & other stuff
By Debbie

Clip to ScrapBook
Hi Jenny,
All great book recommendations, I'm going to nominate 'The Art of Teaching' by Lucy Calkins as well.
Watch out on the post it notes. If you're getting the specially published books from Scholastic and Trumpet,
the pages are extremely THIN. We've ruined more books this year trying to get the post it notes off carefully.
Did you get a set of those Reader's notebooks? I was hoping someone had a chance to look them over. What's inside??? Why the three subject sections???
We already asked for single subject spirals for Reader's response logs, and I use a 2 pocket folder with brads
for their literature lists. Instead of the post its we've used colorful cardstock (4 & 1/4 by 11") 'bookmarks' where the kids note the pages, paragraphs, quotes and vocabulary for dialogue. Or they just put their thoughts in their readers' response log. Take good care and thanks for sharing! ;-D
