Horrible Day - Reply

I have not Subbed for anything lower than Middle School, so cannot comment on those classes that a Sub has all day. But in Middle School, getting dismissed at the bell is real important to them so they can visit with their friends. When they won't listen to me, I just go to the board and write "10". They will ask what that means, and I tell them "it is the number of seconds I will hold them after the bell rings. Want to try for 20?" The longest I have ever had to hold them is 40 seconds, which seems like an eternity to them.Jn
