games

Clip to ScrapBook
I am a regular classroom teacher, and long ago when I started teaching at a Catholic school, some sweet little nun shared this game with me. I still use it all the time as a review game prior to a test. It works well without
preparation or if you don't completely know the subject matter.
The game is called"10 points". Using a worksheet, or test, with answers on it, Read the student a question. If they know the answer, they say' for 10 points, the answer is...., or for 5 points, the answer is...( if they sort of know the answer) , or for 0 points, the answer is..." They may only ask the person next
to them for help. If the answer is wrong, the other side, or the next player, can steal the answer and double the points. The incorrect answer goes in the hole (negative) the number of points given. Another twist in the game is that they must say their point value before answering the question, or else they lose the points.
You can play this game in teams, or individually. You are only allowed to repeat the question once if asked, so careful listening is required.
My students have enjoyed this game a lot, and all I need to do is look at a worksheet to come up with questions.
Have fun!!
