Guided Reading
By Monica

Clip to ScrapBook
I have taught 2nd grade for 3 years and have had reading groups also. I have a center board set up with different centers and which groups I will see for that day. Where I am we use the ECLAS assessment at the beginning
of the year which helps me to see which level each child is at. This year I have 4 groups, with about 6 children in each. Our school just purchased Pacific Reading materials, which include sets of books on all different levels, ranging from K through 4th grade. It allows you to see the improvement and helps you to work on individual needs. If children advance, you can place them in
another group. While I take a reading group, other children are in Centers. (I sometimes have them do a Spelling page or sentences first and then go to centers). Some literacy centers i have are Reading, Listening, Computers, Math, Word works, and Writing. I hope some of this info helped. Good luck.. =0)
