Dealing with kids asking the teacher things all the time.
By Lynne Donald

Clip to ScrapBook
Hi,

I teach 13-14 year olds kids in New Zealand. I think they would be classed as 7 graders? However, I have heard of a strategy to deal with this problem. Put a sign up, Ask 3b4me. Make it into a number plate. It makes the kids more reliant on each other and problem-solving themselves before they come to you. Also, when giving out instructions for the task, ask them if they have any questions before you start. Make sure they can repeat back to you what you want them to do. Rove around the room sometimes so you can come to them.

At the moment my maths class are lower achievers and I have the problem that they won't ask me if they need help. Any Ideas will be greatly appreciated!
