I know how it is...
By Saf

Clip to ScrapBook
I work in a pre-school and we have about 5 children that are just like the "J" you described. They are violent (with teachers as well as other children) and don't seem to care if they are sat out of play for doing the wrong
thing. One of them is also a "J" and he is the worst behaved child I have ever come across. He can be the sweetest and most affectionate child at times, but most of the time he's a monster! I know that it's hard to deal with, and as teachers we have very little options in situations like this. The rewards for good behaviour are, in my opinion, a huge waste of time on some children. I
would much rather reward my students who deserve it! The only advice I can give you is to keep trying. Try and smile even though you feel like you want to scream, and try and see him as the child he is. I tend to forget sometimes that these are only kids, and I am the adult! Have you sat down and had a meeting with the child's parents to discuss how to deal with him? They may be having the same problems at home, and he may need to be tested for alergies or something? It's a long shot, but it may be the cause of his behaviour...

Anyway, I hope you get on okay, and I hope I helped!
