Don't talk tooooo much! By sue d.

Sell yourself to the adminsistrators, but act like 'just one of the teachers' when your visiting rooms. Ask if they would mind if you walked around for a moment and looked at some of the kids' work on display (of course| don't do this if they want to sit and talk to you). Don't start teaching their kids, but you can offer to watch or work with kids if the teacher is doing a hands-on activity. I hate to say this, but they will either judge you to be what they want or they will not. I had never had this type of interview until this year when I moved to a new state with tiny little districts. I was so | | surprised to actually meet teachers, the princ. and superintendent. In my old county system, we had to go through a phone/computerized interview, then the next level was a job fair interview, then the human resource interview--- if you passed through all those with success, a principal would call for a private interview. When I moved to the midwest this year, I was SHOCKED to have to sit in front of a group of teachers, the supt. and parent panel! I thought my heart would pound out of my chest. I guess the latter is more personal, but it sure is scary. Don't go overboard, just seem aware of the curriculum, and complimentary of what you see. Good luck!
