I agree. I tell my students that we work hard in the morning and then we "play" in the afternoon. They seem to have no problem with this. Besides, their little minds are freshest in the morning. My afternoon activities include library, P.E., an educational video that introduces or reteaches a concept, free time at centers or computer activities, science or social studies, and art.
