Centers By PJ

I also have centers in my room. I teach 3rd/ 4th grades. I use the centers for one group while I teach reading to the other group. My children are 10 gifted, 3 MR, 2OHI, others are at risk students. Children go to centers 2 different 30 minute periods per day. Is this time wasted? No. Each morning the students come into the room for morning work. Part of their morning work is to choose the center and activity they will do for that day. They place their popsicle stick in the library pocket with the name of the center they will attend today. I can look from my groups to check if they are doing what | | they are suppose to do! This also helps the students to be focused at center time. They know exactly what center they will go to and what they will do for that day. Some days I have them write about the center they plan to attend. Who will be in the center with them? What will they do? HOw will they do it? This has proven to be successful for me also. I have visitors coming Tuesday to tour my room from The University to see how my centers are set up and my management. I have compiled a packet I can send to you over the internet if you would like one. Let me know. PJOHN0202@aol.com John8244@bellsouth.net JohnsonP@bibbed.orgPhyllis
