easygoing principal By Carolyn

I have been in the situation you speak of. Here are some things you might try:Taking the child to the telephone to call his parent the moment this starts. Tell you students that if they get out of their seat or talk | while you are at the phone (have a child take names), you will call their parents, too. One of our teachers even calls the parents to come and pick up the child if he/she is acting up. Our sixth grade teacher sent home three children last week for severe behavior problems. Get motivated and involved parents to help you. I have a couple of problem children who are sent to the office then |
| sent back again. It gets a little frustrating after awhile to keep a problem child in your room. One day, I had so many complaints about a particular child (who always goes to the office and returns) that I asked every student who had a complaint to write a letter and take it to the principal. The result was a flood of kids to the office with complaints. I went one step further and told them to have their parents call the principal. My principal is scared of parents, so this was an effective strategy. He isn't particularly interested in helping me, but if the kids, then the parents complain, then he jumps to action. He suspended two boys who were bothering everybody all day long. Get those parents to help you.
