To Debbie and the other posters, many thanks for your kind replies. I do think I would like teaching the little ones, and believe those early experiences will have a huge impact on the way these kids view school for the next 12 years.

I also agree with Debbie that there should be more male role models at school. Unfortunately, I can't be one of them--I'm a woman named Augusta, which I think is a lovely name but a bit too stuffy for everyday use (plus people who haven't met me think I must be 80 years old to have such an old-fashioned name). So everyone calls me Gus instead.
