Wowing a principal
By Stephanie

Clip to ScrapBook
A lesson on verbs that is hands on would be good. Put some verbs in a bag. Have students draw them and act them out for the class. The class would guess what the verb is. Once the verb is guessed the person that guessed
the verb would use it in a sentence. If use correctly the guesser becomes the actor. I have also had students write a noun and place it in a bag. Then write a verb and place in another bag. Once you have all students nouns and verbs in the bags they draw one of each. They may not get their own. They then have to write a sentence with what they drew. I have also taken a poem or
nursery rhyme everyone knows and removed the nouns and verbs. The students then supply new ones to create a new poem or rhyme. This can be done whole group. It is more fun that way. They can then create their own to display in the hall or in the room. I hope this helps WOW that principal! Stephanie
