discipline
By Sandra R

Clip to ScrapBook
Hi Mariely,
I am also a first year out 3rd grade teacher.
I am really really strict on the chn. I have a few behaviour problems so I have to be strict in order to survive.
I have strong set rules that no matter
what I won't bend. And the rules are all known by the chn. I have lillte sayings like "hands off, don't touch!" and all the children know that means not to touch anyboby else, their belongings etc.
Also another form of discipline for those impossible chn is a behaviour folder. This is the childs responsibility and every hour on the hour they have to tick or cross the box according to
if they have achieved the task. On the front of the cardboard document folder I have their name and the 3 rules that apply directly to them. rules such as, stay in seat, hands up, no arguing with the teacher.
On the flip inside of the folder I have the consequences, both positive and negative. I allow the child to determine what these are (with my guidance of course). At the end of the day if the child has all ticks for every hour they receive thier reward the next day.
They love the responsibility and I love it as it takes the responsibility off me and directly onto the child.
Sorry about the novel I have just written but I hope it helps.
Let me know if you try it!
