reading in kindergarten
By Jennie

Clip to ScrapBook
HI...I have to use a direct instruction reading program. If I had the choice, I would definitely not use it. I also use a lot of fun language experience activities to facilitate reading. I do try to work in free choice(play centers)every day. I also use Wednesdays for thematic centers. WE also have ABC fun centers every day. I try to get through the direct instruction as quickly as possible. I try to make kindergarten a more fun introduction to the next 12 years. It started out feeling like boot camp. Direct instruction is definitely no fun....I hope this answered your question. I would like to hear more of your thoughts and opinions on the subject.
