I make 22,000 (first year) in chicago. A whole 11,000 dollars less than public school. However, I'm single and don't own a car so I'm managing. There's a lot of quotas for teachers (racially speaking) where I'm at so hopefully in a few more years I can make it to the public schools and actually get paid for what I do. But until than I guess I'll pay my dues (like college loans aren't enough!)
