My favorite saying is "What goes around, comes around!" Someday those "new holier-than-thou teachers" will be older and wiser and look back at their first few years of teaching like I do now and think, "Jeee, what an idiot I was!" I've forgiven myself for some of the stupid things I thought and shared about others. I went through a time I was ashamed of myself for my behavior, which at the time, I considered being soooooooo "professional." As a new grad, I remember thinking, "hey, I have my B.S. degree from a university!!!!" This halo of pride in myself was shinning very brightly and I side blinded many wonderful experienced co-workers with that halo. Those co-workers have forgiven me since those first few years of teaching and they laugh about how I use to be . . . they do laugh louder than I do . . when telling stories I'd rather they'd forget! See, I'm still ashamed of some of those years. Those years were 18 years ago. See "What goes around, does comes back around!" Even after 18 years! Now for those "older busy body teachers" - "you can't teach an old dog new tricks."
