PAT time

At a workshop one time I learned about P.A.T. time which stands for preferred activity time. This is a fancy word for free time. I set 10 minutes of free time at the end of the day. I then set my timer for 10 minutes (one of those digital ones). Everytime the class starts to talk I turn on the timer and watch their free time tick on by. I always tell them that they are wasting their time, and it is entirely up to them how much time they have at the end of the day to socialize.
