This is my second year teaching....I also have reading groups and use centers at this time. I have 4 groups and 5 centers ( one per day) in the centers they have work that is to be completed in the 20 minutes ( if not I give them time at the end of the day) The way I set up my room is that 1 group is with me at the reading table 1 group is at compluter (quiet no talking) 1 group is at their centers (1 per center, no talking) 1 group is at their seats doing seatwork (journals, workbook page) when they are finished with seatwork they either get a file folder game or read their books. When they | | are at their seats I have them sit in groups so their is usally only one person per sitting within that group of tables.. As you can see I like my classroom quiet during reading time...that is why i have one at each center to cut down on the noise..I say switch or ring a bell and they rotate...computers come to me, reading goes to seatwork so I can give them directions before completing the assignment, centers go to computers and seatworkers go to center...you can email me with any questions...hope this helps
