Go for grade 1
By Cathy-Dee

Clip to ScrapBook
Hi Am

With our current situation in Alberta I think I'm going to stick it out in my division for at least another year. I've heard rumors of cut-backs happening especially if the raises go through.

As far as grade 1
goes, go for it! I'd love to send you materials - I've sent materials all over the place in the past few years. I'm one of those people who just loves to share. I have year plans, etc.,

I can't speak for everyone, but most grade 1 teachers start with the consonant names and sounds and around Christmas or January move into the short vowel sounds. I'm just finishing up the short vowels

right now and will do a review and then we'll move into the long vowels.

I have a set of alphabet stories that I created that I have the students listen to and they find and circle all the letters plus sight words we are learning. I use this plus a phonics book (Plaid Phonics). I usually photocopy all my September/October workbooks now in June, so I could easily make a set to send you to look over during the Summer months.

I've included my email, so please feel free to email me if you get the position and want the materials.
