Read Alouds
By Robin

Clip to ScrapBook
My second graders have absolutly enjoyed all the "Black Lagoon" books (like the Teacher From the Black Lagoon, The Principal From the Black Lagoon, etc.) and I always read the Mrs. Piggle Wiggle books. These are great for opening talking about children's behaviours and right from wrong as well as being very funny too. I also read any of the mixed up fairy tale type books I can find -- Cinder Elly is a cowboy version of Cinderlla and it is really funny.
The best advice I can give-- it really doesn't matter which book, but becoming the characters in it. Read like a story teller. It is something that has worked very well for me. My students and even the parents listen in awe. Stories should be fun and exciting. They should come alive.
