Reading and K
By MJH

Clip to ScrapBook
My schedule for reading/language arts is most of my day. I have all day kindergarten; we do read alouds, shared reading, guided reading, literacy centers, independent reading, and shared, guided, and indepentent writing activities. I not only teach letters and sound but how they go together to make words. Many of my students are building words through the use of manipulatives. I do believe that students need that "play time" each day. I set aside time where the block and dramatic play center is open along with art, science and math. "Play is an important part of Kindergarten and is most often the first activity that goes in a curriculum. We must remember that these are still 5 and 6 year olds.
