This is an interesting take on things! I am not sure I completely agree that there is a higher concentration of 'overgrown adolescents' among teachers -- I have worked in finance, in university research, and in hospital| adminstration and I have heard and seen the same range of behaviours from staff members in all three environments. Some are straight and very concerned with maintaining a professional ethos, while others like to stir things up. Some have very strict codes of moral behaviour; others enjoy having a joke -- sometimes even a slightly rude one. I know that in our staff room there are two distinct | | sets of teachers, who even go so far as to 'camp out' in different sections of the room. On one side you will find teachers sincerely discussing the job and its attendant difficulties, and on the other side you will hear raunchy jokes, the occasional critical comment, and a generally more lively atmosphere. Remember, not everyone feels the same way about what is appropriate behaviour at work, or even in life. I assume that if something REALLY inappropriate had occurred, the administration would have had something to say about it, and weeded that behaviour out. Otherwise, IMHO, you need to rack it up to human differences, and get on with the really important business of teaching the kids.
