Phonics
By Cathy-Dee

Clip to ScrapBook
I think some curriculums may not emphasize phonics past grade 2 but in reality you can easily teach phonetics right to grade 6. I don't think once you get to grades 3 upwards that you have to plan specifically for a phonics based program but that as certain sound combinations come up in reading, spelling, rhyming, etc., that you would teach them at those times.

Grades K to 2 would be the grades where there is a concentration on "phonics", reading, sight words, etc.,

Most students who have a good base to begin with easily pick up new sounds, spelling rules, sight words, etc., without having to work through workbooks, etc.,
