portfolios

Clip to ScrapBook
I am just a student teacher, but I tried using portfolios. I stored them in a bin and placed them in the corner of the classroom. Then, when the students walked in they were responsible for getting their portfolio. At
times this was a problem because half the class would be looking for their folder. I would recommed getting dividers and placing the names of each student on the divider. Place the names in alphabetical order so they are easy for the studetns to locate. Put the portfolios in front of the divider. To introduce the idea of portfolios I let the students draw and color on the front something
that represented themsleves. Another thing I did was to have a list of activites glued to the inside front cover of the portfolio. The activities were to be done when the student finished early with their classwork. If you want, I have a bunch of information on protfolios somewhere. I could e-mail it to you if you are interested.
