year round school -- loved it!

I previously taught in a district that had a modified year round schedule (9-weeks on, 2-weeks off with 6 weeks--I think--in the summer). I LOVED IT!!!!!
The best part for me living in the desert was the 2 weeks off in October. The weather is great and the crowds are less if you want to go somewhere (off season for many places).
You don't say what grade you interviewed for -- if it's for K or 1 it will be tough on them. If they had any trouble acclimating to school at the beginning they will have trouble again after the Oct. break though not as long.
I am currently trying to talk my district into following such a schedule.
