teachers' conduct
By Agree with Bev

Clip to ScrapBook
Teachers are professionals, and must conduct themselves like professionals. It is healthy to vent, normal to complain (in moderation!), and necessary to unwind at the end of the week, but I think we should strive to conduct
ourselves appropriately-- at least how we expect our students to act and treat others. For example, how can we with conviction ask students not to swear, if we turn around and swear? How can we encourage students to handle conflicts calmly and by speaking to the person involved, if we turn around and diss people behind their backs?

I truly believe (call me old-fashioned or idealist

or moralistic, that's fine, because I am!) that teachers and professionals have a duty to themselves and those with whom they work to maintain a high standard of conduct at the workplace.
