Writer's Workshop
By Debbie

Clip to ScrapBook
Hi all,
I feel for you...END OF JUNE (though you probably didn't start in mid August as we did)!!! We have 30 days and counting down.
You really can't teach a lesson on grammar and spelling til the kids have draft
writing pieces to edit. The writing process includes prewriting, drafting, revision, editing and publishing. These are in no way linear sequential, kids can do some simultaneously (and you wouldn't expect all stages for all pieces). GR & W has a section devoted to writing, go to p. 82-86 for a 'Big Picture' overview of starting the writing process. That whole chapter on writing is
great. Once you've got things established, there's another list of process/product mini lessons p. 68, 70, 72-73. There are lots of outstanding books written on the writing process, when you want titles, just post or email. Hope all is well with everyone, and that standardized testing is nearly OVER...
Take care, ;-D
