year-round/extended calendar
By Page

Clip to ScrapBook
Our whole district in on a type of year-round calendar - It is more like an extended calendar. Every school is on the same schedule. We are in for 9 weeks take 2weeks off and then the summer amounts to about 6 weeks. We
live in the desert and found this schedule has helped our attendance. When the weather turns gorgeous, we always have a 2 week break coming. All of my kids are on the same schedule so we have no problems. We run intercession during one of the off week for students who are at risk of failure and extra activities like drama -tech courses that may not be offered to all ages. Our community
didn't like the idea of the change but everyone seems to adapted well. Honestly, it would be hard to change to a regular calendar now. But you have to decide if you can adapt to the calendar and the scheduling.
