Hard Choice for Me, Too
By Shannon

Clip to ScrapBook
I don't have any advice for you because I'm dealing with the same dilemma. As misbehavior increases and cooperation decreases, I feel inclined to step up the busywork because I don't feel like I can trust these kids to do the fun, hands-on project-y stuff. On the other hand, I helped them with a project for their science teacher, and even though it was chaotic and not so structured, it was the best time we have had in a long while. To me, it almost felt like I was allowing them to let out some of their excess energy, rather than struggling to contain it while they did worksheets. Nonetheless, at this time when we're ALL tired, it's tough to have the energy to do such activities.
